In the first political comedy of the year comes the sideshow of the century. Featuring the comedy stylings of Donald Trump and President Obama, this political sideshow has all of the drama and uncontrollable laughter of a hit comedy show. It will certainly bring tears to the eyes of many. The critics only complaint is where is the monkey?
First things, first. It is about time.
This little joke actually started two years ago. It was a simple question. Every other President has shown theirs why not President Obama? With the absent of absolute proof, it was relatively easy for the stories to start.
It was even easier to believe because there was no counter proof. There was no definitive, absolute document that irrevocably stated he was born in Hawaii. Frankly, the forgers of official documents were probably thinking that they could personally create a better document than what was presented.
So, the question is why now? What pushed the President to show it now? Was it in fact Donald Trump?
Well, the timing certainly is suspicious. There may have been two triggers, the Trump interview and a recent poll of uncertainty about the President's origin of birth. However, fully expect Trump to take credit for this.
The next big question being asked. Does this make Donald Trump look like a fool?
The answer is not really. Donald Trump doesn't need any help in that department. What it did was give him another claim to fame. He was the person who made President Obama show his birth certificate two years after the public started asking the question.
Another big question. Why is there so much apparent interest in this story?
Well, apparently it is a big deal in the media. Pretty much every headline is about THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE. But then the media has a tendency to grab onto anything that will generate viewers/readers.
Birthers are saying, finally and it is about time. You should have give up this information two years ago. You look ridiculous now that Donald Trump called you out on it and made you show it. Still not going to make us vote for you.
Anti-birthers are saying we told you so to the birthers. Those stupid stories were false. All those lawsuits pointless. They were just distractions. What about all the other problems?
The rest of us are patiently waiting for the monkey in the grand finale.

I am glad this is finally "over". Now we can sit and watch the same people that started this whole thing claim that the government forged the document and that it is a fake.
I think that it is so typical for propaganda like this in American politics. I think you summed it up when you said, "...the media has a tendency to grab onto anything that will generate viewers/readers." In fact, that's exactly what we do here on HubPages! But I like to think of it in a good way, that we are sharing our opinions, articles, and such; not just producing garbage!

All of you people who feel this is a valid issue in the middle of an economic collapse are sick. Two days ago Trump said he had been informed the certificate was missing...yes he is a fool, but not nearly as much as those who believe that before the whole world it is okay to invalidate their own country... they demonstrate just how ignorant this nation is.
The issue is not settled. Now they will say it is fake, or Hawaii isn't in America or it still doesn't answer whether or not he's a Muslim. Frankly they are a bunch of people who can't bear the thought that a Black Man is President and wouldn't vote for him anyway.
America should look back on this time in shame.

I cant get my water or gas turned on without a social security card and a copy of the deed to my home, Police officers and anyone in a job of security cannot get hired without proof of birth? I would have always believed that the day any president was sworn in they would need to see and make copies of his or her birth certificate! I would also think items such as this would be something to put in presidential libraries etc.! I considered this strange from the beginning! Trump did pull some points out for himself on this one, .....gotta hand it to him!
